PIZZA
Ingredients for the pizza dough:
500 g (4 cups) of flour (type 00 or all-purpose)
325 ml (1 1/3 cups) of water
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of active dry yeast
2 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil
here's the recipe for Neapolitan pizza:
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in the water.
Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture, and stir until the dough starts to come together.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10-15 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for about 2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
Divide the dough into 2-3 equal parts and shape them into balls. Let them rest for about 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, flatten each ball of dough into a round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
Add your desired toppings (traditionally, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves) onto the pizza dough.
Drizzle the pizza with a generous amount of extra-virgin olive oil.
Bake the pizza for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Neapolitan pizza!
Buon appetito!
